OUR HISTORY

Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA’s history started over 65 years ago in the U.S, when Interstate Hotels & Resorts was founded. The portfolio grew to over 500 hotels before merging with Aimbridge Hospitality in 2019, creating a global leader in third-party hotel management services.

Today, Aimbridge’s premium portfolio spans over 80 hotel brands across full service, select service, extended stay, destination resorts, conference centres, luxury and lifestyle hotels. Through strategic growth and a commitment to excellence, Aimbridge continues to set the standard for best-in-class hospitality management worldwide.

Timeline

1960s

In 1960, Interstate Hotels Corporation is founded, beginning with a single motel in Pennsylvania. Our first hotel management contract follows in 1963, pioneering the third-party hotel management model.

1970s

In the early 1970s, we began our long partnership with Marriott. By the end of the decade, we owned and operated four hotels with 1,800 rooms across four states.

1980s

Interstate becomes a major industry player, expanding strongly, managing hotels for Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, and other top brands.

1990s

Interstate merges with Patriot American Hospitality, forming one of the largest publicly traded hotel companies. The company is restructured and rebranded as Interstate Hotels & Resorts, focusing solely on hotel management.

2000s

Interstate expands globally entering Moscow and the United Kingdom with three boutique hotels in London. The global footprint continues to grow in Mexico, India, Belgium and Ireland. Meanwhile, Aimbridge Hospitality is founded in 2003 with 8 hotels in Plano, TX by a team of hospitality executives.

2010s

Interstate consolidates their third-party management platform in the UK through acquisition of Chardon Management and the hotel management division of Sanguine Hospitality. European expansion also continues entering the Netherlands and France.

2019

Aimbridge and Interstate Hotels & Resorts merge, forming the largest third-party hotel management company in the world, operating under the Aimbridge Hospitality name.

2021

Aimbridge restructures into four specialised operating divisions to optimize focus on different hotel segments and regions.

2023

Aimbridge continues global expansion through acquisitions and strategic partnerships, reinforcing its leadership in hotel management.

2025

Aimbridge announces a new board of managers, bringing significant hospitality and leadership experience with proven track records. An additional All-Inclusive division is launched.

2026

Aimbridge Hospitality now manages hotels across Europe, North America and Latin America, serving as the trusted management partner for top global hotel brands.
