Beyond its famed spires and tucked behind the cobbled streets, travellers can find some of Belgium’s most delicious and world-renowned beers, wine bars, lip-smacking gastronomy and a vivid street art scene. Guests can enjoy all of Ghent’s offerings with the hotel located close to the main thoroughfare into the city and adjacent to The Ghelamco Arena football stadium and University Hospital.
Academic talent blooms in Belgium’s third-largest city with the largest student population of Flanders. Ghent also boasts world-class research centres including Tech Lane Ghent Science Park, an ecosystem of international corporate Research and Development centres, public research institutes and high-tech growth enterprises.
Ghent couldn’t be better placed for exploring all the enchanting country has to offer with Brussels, the international airport and charming Bruges only a 30-minute train ride away, as well as Antwerp and the Belgium coast accessible by car in 40 minutes.
“With so much to see in Ghent and beyond, Residence Inn Ghent allows guests to truly settle in to the Belgian way of life” says John Licence, Vice President Premium and Select Brands at Marriott International, Europe. “The opening marks the brand’s eleventh property in Europe. With a quickly expanding European portfolio – a pipeline of over 15 openings over the next two years – the brand responds to the growing demand for extended-stay within the continent.”
Harry Gross, CEO at Granit Group said “We are continuously enthusiastic about Ghent and have confidence the addition of Residence Inn by Marriott, the first specifically designed extended-stay hotel in the city, will fill a need expressed by Ghent’s visitors. We thank Mathias De Clercq, the Mayor of Ghent, as well as Bram Van Braeckevelt, the Alderman for Tourism, for their support and are looking forward to continuing to invest in the city.”
Studios and one-bedroom suites come with separate living and sleeping areas and a fully equipped kitchen, designed to create a home away from home experience. The spacious, modern design is peppered with artworks illustrating local sites.
