Leading third-party hotel management company, Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, has announced a two-year charity partnership with one of the UK’s most well-known cancer charities.

The company – a division of global hospitality management leader Aimbridge Hospitality – has joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Support as it looks to embark on a fundraising drive to raise as much money as possible for the worthy cause over the next 24 months.

And already staff from hotels across Aimbridge’s EMEA UK portfolio have been busy planning a number of intrepid fundraising events to kickstart the activities.

Last month, various Aimbridge hotels and the corporate team hosted a number of Macmillan coffee mornings to raise money and support people living with cancer. In 2023 alone, Macmillan Coffee Morning events raised over £16 million.

Next, the fundraising activity will see an Aimbridge team hoping to raise £500 by donning a kilt and taking part in the Kiltwalk in Edinburgh on 15th September. Participants have a choice to complete the 4.6mile Wee Wander, 11.2mile Big Stroll or the 20.5mile Mighty Stride around the Scottish capital.

In October, Stephanie Pinto, Liz Dixon and Rachel Jones from the Aimbridge corporate team are taking things to the next level by travelling to Jordan to embark on the Wadi Rum Trek to Petra. The trek will cover nearly 50 miles over five days and include two nights in Bedouin campsites and three nights wild camping. The immense challenge will see them walking on sand and scrambling over rocky steep terrain which at times will involve ropes in places with the aim of raising £1,000 for Macmillan.

Louise De Freitas, chair of Aimbridge EMEA’s staff Empower committee and a finance leader for the company, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support is a wonderful charity that does incredible, life changing work. Everyone here at Aimbridge EMEA is delighted to get involved and support in any way they can and already we have some amazing team members, doing amazing things. The numerous coffee mornings taking place and Kiltwalk in Scotland are incredible but a special shout out must go to Stephanie, Liz and Rachel who really are going above and beyond with such an exciting adventure that will also raise much needed funds for a worthy charity.

“As a global company giving back to our communities is one of Aimbridge’s core values, and we take that responsibility very seriously. It is important to us that we support the places we are based wherever we can and this is a shining example of that commitment to the UK. We wish all our fundraisers the very best with these activities and the Aimbridge team will be cheering them on all the way as well as coming up with more fundraising ideas for 2025.”

Becky Ettinger, Head of Corporate Partnership Development at Macmillan Cancer Support, said “We’re delighted that Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as their charity partner, and that their staff have hit the ground running with some amazing fundraising already. There are currently 3 million people living with cancer across the UK, with this number expected to rise to 4 million by 2030. As demand for support from Macmillan continues to grow, our partnership with Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA will ensure we can continue to do whatever it takes to support people affected by cancer when they need it most. Cancer isn’t going anywhere, and neither is Macmillan. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
